GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– Gwinnett County will honor the nation’s veterans with two back-to-back events: Gwinnett County’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony and Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson’s Gwinnett County Stand Down.
Both events will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with the Veterans Day Ceremony beginning at 11 a.m., followed immediately by the Stand Down event from noon to 2 p.m. The events will be held outside the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
The Veterans Day Ceremony will commence with a veterans’ march at the Fallen Heroes Memorial. All veterans who served honorably are encouraged to participate and be honored for their service and sacrifice.
Kerry Dyer, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operations Officer for the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and Army veteran, will give this year’s keynote address. Dyer is a military veteran who has served with the Georgia Department of Veterans Service since 2018 in various roles and has held the role of Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operations Officer since January 2025. He enlisted in the Army in 1988 and rose to the enlisted rank of Command Sergeant Major. Dyer is a three-time Bronze star award combat veteran and served in several overseas assignments in Germany, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Haiti.
Stand Down Event
Immediately following the ceremony, all are invited to attend Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson’s Gwinnett County Stand Down. This annual event offers health screenings, housing resources, haircuts, vaccines and more to veterans and their families. Registration for this event is encouraged.
Gwinnett residents who have served in any branch of the armed forces and their families are invited to participate in the day’s events. Likewise, all residents are encouraged to attend to show appreciation to those who helped protect and defend the country.
