GWINNETT COUNTY, GA—Gwinnett County Police, through a multi-jurisdictional effort, are closing in on a ring of East Point, GA men suspected of hundreds of auto burglaries around metro Atlanta that started in 2023.
Police announced on today (April 9) that two more suspects—Kylijah Devon Yates, 23, and Randy Daniel Martinez, 24—have been arrested, bringing the number to three captured so far.
Javaris Gamble, 22, identified by authorities as the ring leader, was arrested on Aug. 31, 2023, in Forest Park by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force, along with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, Forest Park PD, and Clayton County PD.
Detectives arrested Gamble for 30 Entering Auto and Motor Vehicle Theft crimes that occurred in just one night, June 22, 2023. The crime spree continued nearly every other night throughout last summer, with more than 400 vehicles entered and more than 15 vehicles stolen from Gwinnett County alone. Gamble is currently incarcerated in the Gwinnett County Jail with no bond.
Authorities say that two more suspects are still wanted in connection with the auto burglaries.
Gwinnett County Police detectives enlisted the help of the Fulton County SWAT team to serve a search warrant at a residence in the 2900 block of South Clark Drive in East Point, where Yates was arrested on March 7.
Gwinnett detectives also executed a search warrant at the East Point home where Yates was found. Multiple firearms and ammunition were seized, as well as property belonging to victims of multiple entering auto incidents in Gwinnett County. Yates is currently booked in the Gwinnett County Jail and is charged with 20 counts of Entering Auto, Theft by Taking, and Aggravated Assault.
Through a series of multiple investigative methods, detectives determined Martinez had fled Georgia and was in the area of Kissimmee, Florida.
Gwinnett County Police detectives contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s Fugitive Squad, which located and took Martinez into custody without incident. Martinez had more than 100 active arrest warrants between multiple agencies, including Gwinnett County. Some of his charges include Aggravated Assault with a Weapon, Battery, Motor Vehicle Theft, and multiple Entering Auto charges.
Detectives are asking the public’s help in locating the two additional suspects they say are part of the ring: Giovanni Bell, 27, is charged with 11 counts of Entering Auto and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft all from multiple incidents on July 22, 2023.
Emmanuel Chavarria Ornelas, 24, is charged with 18 counts of Entering Auto from multiple incidents occurring March 7, 2024.
