STONECREST, GA–A packed audience applauded as the processional with Stonecrest Mayor Jazzmin Cobble and her family and entered the room to deliver her first State of the City Address on Thursday, March 23, at the Privvi Event Center inside the Mall at Stonecrest. Cobble’s address, a pre-recorded video presentation, was part of an evening program that featured radio personality Sasha the Diva, who served as moderator for a “fireside chat” between Cobble and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin. The women discussed challenges and triumphs in moving a city forward through a transition. Cobble presented her first “key to the” to Franklin after the chat, sharing the stage with City Council members George Turner, Rob Turner and Alecia Washington and Tara Graves.Later, Cobble gave a progress report on the city’s milestone accomplishments and urged residents to unite and join her and the CityCouncil in moving the head. Mayor Cobble reminded the community that the application process for small businesses and residents seeking assistance from the City’s American Rescue Plan Act(ARPA) funds are now being accepted. She also announced several projects and efforts underway or being planned including road repairs, park improvements and weekend code enforcement to crack down on illegal businesses operating without licenses at service stations and other areas.
