ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–Leslie Lambert of Conyers, GA, was appointed by the Board of the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) on May 2 to the Rockdale County Soil and Water Conservation District. Lambert ‘ss two-year term as Rockdale’s representative began on the day she was appointed.
Lambert has spent more than 40 years in the healthcare industry. As a registered respiratory therapist (RRT), she has been on the leading edge of respiratory treatment for patients with a multitude of breathing ailments. She began a respiratory protocol that is still used throughout the Piedmont Healthcare System.
Lambert has lived on an 11-acre farm that shas supported her horses for 26 years. Lambert has also raised chickens to provide meat and eggs for her family. As an effort to keep the farm as natural as possible, most of the land is wooded. Tree conservation is a main effort to support the many varieties of wildlife on the farm, migrating birds as they pass through, and supporting bats in the area. The wild areas of the farm are kept undisturbed and as natural as possible. The horse field is planned with terracing, and the use of exclusion fencing keeps the horses from entering the creek on property. There are pollinator habitats to provide sustenance for the pollinators on and around the farm.
Lambert knows that Rockdale is a changing environment with urban development, so she likes to focus on tree preservation and any practice that limits environmental warming. She serves on the Rockdale/Conyers Planning and Development Board, which gives her the opportunity to better help plan urban growth to conserve te county’s natural resources.
Lambert is a member of the Rotary Club of Conyers and the Conyers/Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. She regularly attends Conyers City Council meetings to stay up to date on news in the county. Lambert looks forward to working as a District Supervisor with the Rockdale County SWCD.
