Time to lace up your running shoes and restart that New Year’s Resolution – Rockdale Career Academy’s 7th annual Run RCA Strides for Education 5K/1-Mile Run is just around the corner, Saturday, Feb. 25, 9:30 a.m. – noon. Register at www.tinyurl.com/RunRCA2017.
This beloved annual tradition raises funds to help RCA students participate in career pathway-related competitions. It also gives RCA students the opportunity to practice in the real world the lessons they’ve learned in the classroom.
“This event shows the value of the project-based curriculum taught at RCA and the talent and drive of our students,” said RCA’s Sports & Entertainment Marketing Instructor Dayo Adebiyi. Sports and Entertainment Marketing career pathway students are organizing the event with help from students in many other fields, such as the Healthcare pathway students providing health screenings on the day of the race.
Registration can be done at active.com or www.tinyurl.com/RunRCA2017 or on race day. Individual registration is $25 and participants receive a specially designed long-sleeve T-shirt; without the T-shirt registration is $20.
The course, which tours nearby industries, starts and ends at Rockdale Career Academy, 1064 Culpepper Drive, Conyers, GA. The moderate terrain is family-friendly and stroller-friendly and a great way to achieve a great course time.
Race day registration opens 9:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 10:30 a.m. And the 5K Run starts at 11 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top finishers in the categories of Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, top three per age group Male/Female from ages 10 to 75-plus.
After the run, all participants are invited to nearby Amici’s for an RCA pizza party.
This year’s sponsors include High Priority Plumbing and Services, Amici’s, Road Safe, Cold Stone Creamery, Food Depot and Coca-Cola.
