More than 2,100 receive COVID-19 vaccinations at Oct. 2 DeKalb event

DECATUR, GA— DeKalb County, in partnership with the DeKalb County Board of Health, Emory Healthcare and Medcura Health, administered an estimated 2,100 COVID-19 vaccinations on Oct. 2.

“This has been a great day for DeKalb in our ongoing fight against COVID-19,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said. “I thank all of our partners, employees and volunteers who contributed to this successful event.”

The vaccination event featured guest appearances by actor/comedian Chris Tucker, renowned gospel singer Dottie Peoples, singer Tony Terry and more.

The vaccination event began at 8 a.m. and county officials had planned to end at 1 p.m., but extended the event until about 4:30 p.m.
