Easter weekend activities include COVID-19 vaccines, free food + other initiatives
STONECREST, GA—New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a series of community outreach activities beginning on Good Friday, April 2, and culminating with the ministry’s Resurrection Sunday drive-up service on April 4. All activities will take place on New Birth’s campus located at 6400 Woodrow Rd in Stonecrest.
On Friday, New Birth is partnering with Elite Medical Associates to administer 1,800 free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations onsite. The following day, The King’s Table food pantry will host its weekly free food distribution at the Family Life Center, which feeds more than 30,000 individuals monthly.
New to this year’s outreach events are a pair of “second look” initiatives launching Saturday, April 3, aimed at repurposing gently-used clothing and eyewear.
“We are advancing our partnership with Goodwill of North Georgia and launching our King’s Closet initiative this weekend. I’m encouraging the entire community to take a second look in their closets and bring your gently used clothes, shoes and household items to New Birth,” said New Birth Senior Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant. “Additionally, we are aiming to collect 2,000 new and used prescription glasses that will be distributed to a number of global missions and the Lion’s Club.”
Sunday’s drive-in style service will allow members and guests to participate in New Birth’s annual Resurrection Sunday Service from the convenience of their vehicles.
“As we still navigate the impacts of the global pandemic, ministries continue to adjust to the reality that the coronavirus is still a current threat to large gatherings,” said Bryant. “Until it is safe to reconvene in the sanctuary, we are working tirelessly to curb infection rates in Georgia and are excited about our partnerships that have provided ongoing COVID-19 testing and now COVID-19 vaccinations for our community.”
Resurrection Sunday Service, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will feature special musical guest, Pastor Charles Jenkins, with youth activities beginning at 8:30 a.m. To register for the Sunday pull-up service, text “nbpullup” to 71441.
