RCPS announces last day of school, other protocols due to COVID-19

Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) has released its  End of the Year Guide 2019-2020 with  protocols for grades, transcripts, retention/promotion, graduation, prom, student registration and more. Families are strongly encouraged to read the RCPS End of the Year Guide at www.rockdaleschools.org/COVID19.

Important dates include:

May 7 – Last day of Independent Learning Days (last day of school online for students).

May 14 – Last day to turn in assignments

May 22 – Last day of school for 190-day employees (such as teachers).

Meal Routes – RCPS Mobile Meal Routes will continue through the summer until July 24. For meal delivery locations and times, go to www.rockdaleschools.org/COVID19.

Laptop Return and Retrieval of Personal Items and Yearbooks – Dates to be announced and communicated later in April.

Proms – All high schools are working on alternative plans to hold proms scheduled for Saturday, June 20(pending COVID-19 pandemic conditions). Schools will communicate details with their students.

Graduations – Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020 are scheduled for the following dates (pending COVID-19 pandemic conditions):

• Salem High School – Wednesday, June 24, 7:30 p.m. at Salem High
• Rockdale County High School/Rockdale Magnet – Thursday, June 25, 7:30 p.m. at Rockdale County High
• Heritage High School – Friday, June 26, 7:30 p.m. at Heritage High
