Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) will host the 18th semester of Parent Academy on Saturday, Sept. 26, with world-class courses in a new, virtual format.
The free, half-day event offers classes from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on a variety of topics to help parents find success in these unprecedented times, officials said. To register, please visit www.rockdaleschools.org/parentacademy
RCPS Superintendent Dr. Terry Oatts opens the day as the keynote speaker with the “State of the School System” overview.
Class topics this year were chosen based on parent feedback. Some of the highlights include: helping my child with virtual school, achieving and maintaining mental wellness, fun activities for families, and various community resources. There are also classes available for Spanish-speaking parents and for parents of students with disabilities.
The event also includes free door prizes and access to a virtual vendor marketplace where participants can access helpful information, products, promotional items, and even discount codes provided by some of the vendors.
Parent Academy Coordinator Darci Gilreath said she is proud of continuing to provide an award-winning educational experience for our district’s parents at no cost to them.
“We’ve been working hard to conduct this event with the same world-class excellence we have over the past nine years,” Gilreath said. “We’re excited to explore new opportunities and expand ways for parents to grow in this virtual format.”
