Rockdale County Board of Elections sets free training for organizations planning voter registration drives

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA—Rockdale County Supervisor of Elections Cynthia Willingham announced that registration is underway for a free Voter Education Training Class that will be held on Aug.17, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Rockdale Board of  Elections, 1115 West Ave., S.W., Conyers. Registration for the in-person only class closes on  Aug. 13. 

Citizens and organizations planning to conduct voter registration drives are invited to the training to learn about the necessary legal requirements that must be followed.

“We have been getting a lot of calls from those who want to register voters. By law, we must provide the training upon the request of any organization.  Every election year, we try to hold a class  to make sure they understand what the legal requirements are for conducting voter registrations,” said Willingham.

Willingham said the Voter Education Training Class will include information on:

• Laws regarding voter registration
• Proper ways to register voters
• Online voter registration
• How to confirm a registered voter
• Voting in your county of residence(it’s the law)
• Felons and voting
• Overview of elections dates/voter registration deadline

How to Register for the Aug. 17 Voter Education Training Class:

There will be no virtual class offered.  Space is limited and the in-person class will fill up quickly. To register,  call the Rockdale Board of Elections at 770-278-7333 or e-mail: cynthia.willingham@rockdalecountyga.gov.  Registration closes on Aug. 13.
