Rockdale County Public Schools to activate mobile meal routes during Virtual Learning Days Oct. 14-18

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA- -Due to the cleanup at BioLab and its environmental impact, Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) will continue Independent Learning / Virtual Learning Days through Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. 

The Georgia Department of Education has allowed RCPS to serve meals during this unanticipated school building closure under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.  

RCPS School Nutrition, in partnership with RCPS Transportation, will implement 10 mobile meal routes and 2 stationary locations to provide bagged meals for RCPS students. RCPS must continue to count and claim meals by students and schools. Students will receive breakfast and lunch at the time of pickup. Students may need to temporarily pause virtual instruction to get their meals and then return to instruction. Parents or guardians can also pick up meals on behalf of their students without the students being present.

Option 1: Mobile Meal Routes

•  Students can pick up meals and do not have to eat the meal on the bus for these mobile meal routes.
•  Parents or guardians can pick up meals on behalf of their students; students do not need to be present. Parents must provide student’s name and school name to pick up the meal.
•  Meals include breakfast and lunch. 
•  Meal delivery times may change as needed.

Option 2: Meal Pick Up

October 14-18, 2024, 12:00PM-1:30PM

•  Salem High School, 3551 Underwood Rd, Conyers, GA in bus lane, near back dock across from baseball field
or
•  Heritage High School, 2400 Granade Rd, Conyers, GA in bus lane near football stadium entrance

Parents/guardians can pick up meals for their children without children being present by saying student names and schools to properly claim the meals. Meals include breakfast and lunch.
