Rockdale District Attorney Alisha Johnson says she is thoroughly reviewing the evidence provided by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations in the death of Shali Tilson, 22. She said she is awaiting the results of the Rockdale Sheriff’s Office concerning the death of Jamie Henry, 40. Both died while in the custody of the Rockdale County Jail.

After completely reviewing all of the evidence, a decision will be made on whether or not to pursue formal charges, Johnson said in a news release dated June 15.

Johnson said her office has received numerous inquiries and requests regarding the March 12 death of Tilson and the May 27 death of Henry, 40.

“In the interest of keeping the Rockdale community informed, the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office is providing this update,” Johnson said in the news release.

On June 13, 2018, the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office received the results of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ (GBI) examination into Tilson’s death, Johnson stated.

“The circumstances surrounding the death of Jamie Henry are still under investigation by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO). Upon receipt of the RCSO’s investigation, the District Attorney’s Office will review all findings and make a decision regarding the filing of charges.

“At this time, there is no further comment on either case,” Johnson said in the news release.

I am very concerned and would like to know if you will be bringing back the jazz concerts again at Lithonia Amphitheater. People residing in Dekalb county and Rockdale counties should not have to go all the way to Wolfcreek or Lakewood Amphitheater to see concerts. When we should be able to have the same thing in our own back yards. Please bring the concerts back to Lithonia.

That is the million dollar question?

Last year, there was an announcement in the AJC newspaper where the county approved an 1000 seat amphitheatre that is/ was supposed to be built next to the Porter Sanford Center. The county was supposed to have an architectural firm draw up the design of it ,submit the it back,( I think) to DeKalb County and then officials would let the citizens look at it. That was last year. I haven’t read/ seen anything about the amphitheatre since.

I agree with you. Citizens of DeKalb County should not have to travel dozens of miles to Wolf Creek or Lakewood to find quality entertainment. It’s sad that they have to travel those many miles for concerts, graduations and other events…money that could be put in this county( And Rockdale as well).
