ATLANTA—Georgia Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) has been appointed by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones to serve as a member on the Joint High School Athletics Overview Committee and the Georgia Lottery Corporation Legislative Oversight Committee.
The Joint High School Athletics Overview Committee was established under Senate Bill 288, which was passed during the 2014 Legislative Session. The committee is comprised of members of the Georgia House and Senate and is charged with reviewing the operations of Georgia’s high school athletic associations in addition to evaluating the fairness and equity in establishing its standards.
The Georgia Lottery Corporation Legislative Oversight Committee was established during the 1992 Legislative Session. The Georgia Lottery Corporation Legislative Oversight Committee is tasked to review and evaluate the operations of the Georgia Lottery Corporation. Both committee assignments are two-year terms, concurrent with the term of the appointed member.
“I would like to thank Lt. Gov. Burt Jones for giving me the opportunity to serve on these two distinguished committees,” said Sen. Jones. “These committees are vital to ensuring Georgia’s state organizations are properly accounted for. I will do all that is necessary as I serve alongside my Senate and House colleagues to ensure each area that falls under the jurisdiction of these committees is properly vetted and adequately supported.”
