STONECREST, GA—City Council members Jazzmin Cobble and Tammy Grimes are inviting those impacted by breast cancer and domestic violence to join them this weekend to remember and celebrate.
The two council members are hosting “A Moment on the Mountain” on Sunday, Oct. 17, 4 p.m., at Arabia Mountain, 3787 Klondike Road. The event is being held as Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed locally, nationally and internationally during the month of October.
The event at Arabia will provide an opportunity for those impacted to give testimonials and connect with others.

“It is important that we take the time to connect, celebrate and remember those impacted by breast cancer and domestic violence. It is equally as important to come together, as survivors and loved ones, to share with fellow community members as we uplift and encourage. This event will be just that, an intimate and safe space to share, connect, and encourage each another,” Cobble and Grimes said in a joint statement.
About 1 in 8 U.S. women and 1 in 833 U.S. men will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lives, according to the American Cancer Society. In 2021, an estimated 284,200 combined new cases of breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women and men in the U.S. About 44,130 American lives—women and men—will be lost to breast cancer this year, statistics show. |
