Stonecrest District 2 Councilman Rob Turner and his wife, Vicki B. Turner, District 5 DeKalb County School Board member, are launching a monthly community breakfast meeting that will focus on relevant issues and promote community resources.
The Turners are hosting the inaugural Cultural Exchange meeting on Jan. 13, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Ray of Hope Christian Church’s Family Life Center, 2778 Snapfinger Drive, Decatur.
“We will be hosting the Cultural Exchange community breakfast on the second Saturday of each month (unless otherwise noted). The meeting will provide stakeholders with current updates as it relates to their quality of life to include national, state and local initiatives that are relevant to the community,” the Turners said in a news release. “There will be an informational exchange between elected officials, county and district leadership, department heads, business leaders and constituents.”
The Turners say the slogan for the Cultural Exchange is “An informed community is an empowered community.”
“The vision is to create a culture of collaboration through the sharing of information that will empower our community and enhance our quality of life,” said Councilman Rob Turner.
The first meeting’s agenda also will include updates from the Senate and House Delegation; DeKalb County government; DeKalb County Schools; and the City of Stonecrest District 2. There will be light breakfast, Q&A and announcements from those attending the meeting.
“The vision is to create a culture of collaboration through the sharing of information that will empower our community and enhance our quality of life,” said Councilman Rob Turner.
A political candidates forum is slated for the February meeting. The meetings are free and open to the public.
