Volunteers with a vested interest in making Conyers-Rockdale a cleaner, greener and more thriving community cleaned local parks, schools, neighborhoods, roadways and waterways through their participation in the Great American Cleanup (GAC).
Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) hosted the half-day event on Sat., April 29 at Pine Log Park in Conyers.
More than 270 volunteers representing 25 groups from local schools, church groups, homeowner and civic organizations, scout troops, small families and individuals donated their time to help remove nearly 5 tons, or the equivalent of 10,000 pounds, of garbage and at least 24 tires from locations and dumpsites across the County.
As a thank you, volunteers received a free BBQ lunch that Rockdale Water Resources and ESG Operations donated and Mr. Carlton Brannon, owner of Nabo’s BBQ, who graciously donated his time by grilling for the event.
To follow up the county-wide cleanup event, KCRB is holding the Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding event on Sat., May 20 as a part of the GAC efforts for 2017. This event is open to Rockdale residents and business owners. All members of the community participating in this event will receive a free T-shirt as a thank you for helping to keep Rockdale clean, green and thriving. For more information, visit the Rockdale County website at www.rockdalecountyga.gov.
Through public-private partnerships and strategic alliances with citizens, businesses and government, KCRB’s efforts each year motivate hundreds of volunteers to clean up and improve Rockdale County, thereby creating safer, more livable environments.
