CONYERS, GA—Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged Zaire Watson, Jr., 22, with the murder of Fernando Soloman, 20, in a mix-up over a Door Dash food delivery.
The fatal shooting occurred on Sept. 8 at 1:12 a.m. after a Door Dash driver delivered food to the wrong duplex unit, where the men lived, according to the Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained by On Common Ground News today.
Door Dash delivered the food to the unit where the suspect and his father, Zaire Watson, Sr. lived. That address is listed on the Sheriff’s Office incident report as 347 Tall Oaks Drive, Conyers.
The victim, whose address also is listed in the incident report as 347 Tall Oaks Drive, went next door to try and retrieve his delivery.
The elder Watson, who is 44, told deputies he was not home. He said he saw the victim in front of their home from his ring camera on his cell phone and called his son. The son said he saw Fernando reach in his pocket and then he shot him, the incident report states.
Deputies responding to the scene found Fernando lying on the ground bleeding from gunshot wounds. Deputies began rendering first aid until EMS arrived and took over first aide. The victim died at the scene.
The victim’s father, Richard Solomon, was on scene in front his driveway. He got home and saw his son shot, the incident report states.
Investigators said the younger Watson was arrested and charged with murder and non-negligent manslaughter and booked into the Rockdale County Jail.
