ATLANTA—As family members prepare to lay 8-year-old Secoriea Turner to rest this week, they are calling on the public to help them find the individuals who are responsible for the child’s death.
Secoriea’s parents, Charmaine Turner and Secoriey Williamson, will hold a virtual press conference at 11 a.m. today (July 13) with their attorneys.
Secoriea was tragically shot on July 4 as she and her mother sat in a car near the Wendy’s restaurant, which has been the site of demonstrations held by protestors calling for justice for Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old black man who was fatally shot on June 12 by a white police officer. Brooks was shot after a struggle during a DUI arrest.
Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta Police officer who shot Brooks, was fired and faces 11 criminal charges including felony murder. A second police officer, Devin Brosnan, faces four charges, including aggravated assault.
A public viewing for Secoriea Turner will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Murray Brothers Funeral Home, 1199 Utoy Springs Road S.W., Atlanta.
Due to COVID-19, a private funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 11 a.m. at New Calvary Missionary Church, 1690 Melrose Drive, Atlanta. Services will be live streamed at WWW.MBFH.COM.
Attorneys Mawuli Davis and Harold Spence of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm have been retained to represent the family of Secoriea Turner. Davis Bozeman Law Firm will be joined by Attorneys Shean Williams and Sam Starks of the Cochran Firm in Atlanta.
