CONYERS, GA– Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) will celebrate the 19th semester of its Parent Academy on Saturday, March 27 with free courses in a virtual format.
The half-day event offers classes from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on a wide variety of topics to help parents in assisting their students find success in these unprecedented times. To register, please visit www.rockdaleschools.org/parentacademy
Class topics this year were chosen based on parent feedback, officials said. Some of the highlights include achieving and maintaining mental wellness, applying for financial aid, navigating online classroom platforms and programs for virtual learning, transitioning from elementary to middle school, helping your student in reading and math, Zumba, meal planning, and various community resources. There are also classes available for Spanish-speaking parents and for parents of students with disabilities.
The event includes door prizes and access to a virtual vendor marketplace where participants can access helpful information, products, promotional items, and discount codes provided by some of the vendors.
Parent Academy Coordinator Darci Gilreath said she is proud of continuing to provide an award-winning educational experience for our district’s parents at no cost to them.
“We’ve been working hard to conduct this event with the same world-class excellence we have over the past nine years,” Gilreath said. “We’re excited to explore new opportunities and expand ways for parents to grow in this virtual format.”
