ATLANTA – The Georgia House Democratic Caucus recently re-elected State Rep. Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain) as the House Minority Caucus Chairman for the 2023-2024 legislative term during caucus elections on Nov. 22.
“In my leadership role, I have served consistently and fairly and will continue to balance the interests of the caucus,” said Mitchell. “Having served in the House for 20 years, I hope to continue to do great things for our caucus because the caucus is at its best when we work together towards our shared goals.”
As chairman, Mitchell will lead the House Minority Caucus’ operations. He will preside over the Minority Caucus meetings, oversee incumbent re-elections and spearhead candidate recruitment, among other responsibilities.
This will be Mitchell’s 11th term in the Georgia House of Representatives and his second term as the Majority Caucus Chairman.
Mitchell represents residents of District 88, which includes portions of DeKalb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002. He currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and the Banks & Banking, Health & Human Services and Regulated Industries committees.
