City of Chamblee launches amnesty program in March for outstanding traffic tickets

CHAMBLEE, GA—During the month of March, Chamblee Municipal Court is implementing an amnesty program for individuals with outstanding traffic citations and/or active bench warrants for failing to appear in court.  The goal is to settle outstanding violations with the court, reduce arrests, and decrease the city’s overall caseload.

“This program not only offers those with outstanding citations or those who have been concerned about failure to appear warrants to settle their violation, but it also helps staff reduce the backlog in cases due to continued effects of the pandemic,” said Barry Anderson, Chamblee’s court administrator.

Those who would like to take advantage of the program are invited to come by the Chamblee Municipal Court, 4445 Buford Highway, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning March 1 and ending March 31.

During that time, if individuals pay their fines in full, contempt fees due to failure to appear will be forgiven. If the citation(s) require a mandatory court appearance, the individual will be granted a future court date to appear before the judges, have warrants cleared, and/or be granted license release forms upon posting of a cash bond, without being detained.
