ATLANTA– The Atlanta Opera announces that applications are open for auditions for contracted positions for the Opera Chorus for the 2023-24 Season.
Auditions are available for highly qualified singers in all voice ranges. The application deadline is Friday, July 7, 5 p.m. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Atlanta Opera rehearsal hall, 1575 Nort.hside Drive N.W., Suite 350, Atlanta.
The chorus will participate in rehearsals and performances for: Rigoletto — Performances Nov. 4, 7, 10, 12, 2023 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center La bohème — Performances Jan. 20, 23, 26, 28, 2024 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center Audition requirements: Auditions are open to new singers only and are open to all voice types. There is a greater need for tenors and basses. Select sopranos and mezzo-sopranos are welcome to audition.
Three selections must be prepared. Two standard arias (one must be in Italian. No art songs, please) One classical music theater piece, such as a selection by Rodgers and Hammerstein A pianist will be provided, or the auditioner may bring their own. TOURING ARTIST AUDITIONS The Atlanta Opera announces that applications are open for auditions for contracted positions for the Education Program Studio Tour for the 2023-24 Season. These tours generally run with two performances per and out-of-town travel and overnight stays are required. A limited housing stipend and travel reimbursement are available for out-of-town artists. Auditions are available for three positions: mezzo or soprano, tenor, and baritone.

Designed to travel, Studio Tour productions are presented in schools and community venues across the state of Georgia each season. Educators are provided with comprehensive guides that feature lesson plans and activities corresponding to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. This season’s production features a bilingual version of Gioachino Rossini’s delightful and energetic The Barber of Seville.
Created by stage director Kristine McIntyre, the 45-minute adaptation will be performed in Spanish and English and demonstrates the power of love to triumph over adversity of every kind. Rehearsal and performance dates are: Sept. 18 – October 1, 2023 Oct. 8 – November 4, 2023 Jan. 7 – February 10, 2024 April 28 – May 18, 2024
