GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson has been tapped for key appointments by the National Association of Counties (NACo), officials announced on Friday, Aug. 9.
The appointments come as Gwinnett County celebrates recognition by the national organization for 31 of the county’s groundbreaking programs secured under Hendrickson’s leadership.
NACo President James Gore has appointed Hendrickson to serve on the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee as subcommittee vice chair. The committee focuses on housing. Hendrickson also will serve as vice chair of the Large Urban County Caucus.
Gore said he chose Hendrickson because of her commitment and dedication to NACo and the county in which she serves.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment and grateful to President Gore for his confidence in my leadership. Serving Gwinnett County has been a privilege, and I am excited to bring my experiences and ideas to the national stage through my roles with NACo,” Hendrickson said. “By collaborating with my peers, we can continue to drive meaningful change both locally and nationally. I look forward to working alongside them to advance these critical priorities.”
Since taking office, Hendrickson has led Gwinnett County’s efforts to build a stronger, more inclusive Gwinnett: prioritizing transportation and enhancing mobility for all through the creation of a new transit development plan; advancing housing affordability through the creation of the affordable housing development fund; restoring and reinvigorating a thriving economy that delivers economic security for small and minority businesses; and directly engaging with residents to make local government more responsive, transparent, and accountable. Hendrickson is active on several local, statewide, and national boards, including the Atlanta Regional Commission.
NACo’s mission is to strengthen America’s counties, serving nearly 40,000 county elected officials and 3.6 million county employees.
