DECATUR, GA—The DeKalb County Police Department is increasing its crime-fighting arsenal with a new app to help residents submit anonymous tips from their smartphone.
The new DeKalb County Police Department app allows officers to engage in an anonymous two-way conversation. The app and tip411 anonymous text-a-tip system is 100 percent anonymous, as the technology removes all identifying information before police see the tips and there is no way to identify the sender, officials said.
“Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in DeKalb County by working with the community to preserve the peace and provide for a safe environment,” said DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha V. Ramos. “We believe our new app will help us do just that by making it easier for our residents to engage with us to protect our community.”
Those without a smartphone can share information with police by sending an anonymous text tip via their cellphone by texting keyword DKPD and their message/tip to 847411 (tip411).
Anonymous web tips can also be submitted via the department’s website atwww.dekalbcountyga.gov/police-services/dekalb-county-police-department.
The DeKalb County Police Department app is available for download for free via the Google Play Store, iTunes App Store or on our website at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/police-services/dekalb-county-police-department.
