ATLANTA – Mary Mac’s Tea Room, a beloved Midtown Atlanta institution known for its classic Southern cuisine, has officially reopened its beloved Skyline Room and Ms. Ellen’s Room after extensive renovations. The restaurant had been closed since March 2024, following a partial roof collapse caused by heavy rains.
The popular Skyline Room and Ms. Ellen’s Room, named for Ellen Fraley, who worked at Mary Mac’s Tea Room for over 35 years, are now ready to welcome locals and visitors alike. To celebrate the reopening, the restaurant is offering complimentary Georgia peach cobbler to all guests from Feb.17–23.
During the closure, the owners took the opportunity to renovate the entire restaurant. Guests can now enjoy a refreshed and modern version of one of Atlanta’s oldest and most historic restaurants, with upgraded décor, fresh paint, new carpets, and a renewed focus on the Southern hospitality that makes Mary Mac’s Tea Room special.
“The Skyline Room and Ms. Ellen’s Room are essential parts of Mary Mac’s, as much as our delicious menu of authentic meatloaf, fried chicken, seafood, and other Southern favorites,” said Chad Reynolds, Mary Mac’s director of operations.
“Mary Mac’s is all about Southern food, family tradition, and hospitality,” says Harold Martin, Mary Mac’s owner. “And Ms. Ellen’s Room is meaningful to me, as it is named after the team member who welcomed me to Mary Mac’s as a customer nearly 30 years ago. We’re thrilled to welcome Atlanta residents and visitors back to the restaurant for many more years of fantastic meals and memories.”
If it’s your first time at Mary Mac’s, don’t forget to ask for your complimentary cup of potlikker and cornbread—it’s a true Southern tradition!
