ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners (BOC) is introducing evening town hall meetings as a new addition to its regular schedule, beginning in March.
The initiative aims to increase transparency and encourage more community interaction, officials said. As part of the revised schedule, the board will host the town halls separately, consolidating its Work and Voting Sessions into a single comprehensive morning meeting.
Traditionally, the BOC meetings have served for discussing and deciding critical issues impacting Rockdale County.
Under the revised schedule:
- Regular Work Sessions and Voting Meetings now will be held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, beginning at 10 a.m.
- New town halls will be held on the 3rdTuesday of each month at 6 p.m., providing an opportunity for residents to engage directly with commissioners through an information and Q&A format.
This initiative reflects the BOC’s commitment to transparency, ensuring that community stakeholders have ample opportunities to participate in discussions, voice concerns, and gain insight into the decision-making processes that shape Rockdale County, officials said.
“We believe that by integrating town halls into our meeting schedule and consolidating Work and Voting Sessions, we can better serve our community by fostering open dialogue and collaboration,” said Chair JaNice Van Ness. “These changes are designed to make our meetings more accessible and informative for all residents.”
