STONECREST, GA –Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) will convene a roundtable discussion on the critical role of Medicaid in Georgia on Tuesday, March 18, from 10 to 11 a.m., at his district office, 5240 Snapfinger Park Drive, Suite 140, Stonecrest.
The discussion, which will bring together several community experts and stakeholders, is part of the nationwide Medicaid Action Day, aimed at opposing proposed federal cuts that would impact seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities and their families.
Congressman Johnson will be joined by Nadine Johnson, Director, Care One Franchise, Inc. (COFI); residents and their family members; Leah Chan of the GA Budget & Policy Institute; Jeff Taylor, Executive Director of MedCura; Jacqueline Bell-Smith of Angel Vision Consultants, Inc.; Debra Stokes of the Georgia Council on Aging; Collette Frix of Royal Adult Day Services, Board of Directors; member of Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse in Stone Mountain; and Eric Slappey, a double amputee who receives Social Security and Medicaid.
Johnson said the roundtable with various stakeholders is being held to highlight the impact of those who are most vulnerable in the Fourth Congressional District including sick children, people with disabilities, seniors in nursing homes, veterans, those with chronic conditions, mental health and other special needs.
The roundtable, Johnson said, underscores his commitment “to protecting and improving Medicaid for generations to come” by demanding that “Congress reject Medicaid funding cuts that threaten patient care, coverage, and the viability of our entire health care system.”
