DECATUR, GA–DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson announced on Wednesday, April 9, that the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $4 million in federal funding to support two key transportation projects aimed at easing congestion and enhancing traffic flow along North Druid Hills Road.
The funding will be used for intersection improvements at North Druid Hills Road and Lavista Road, and at North Druid Hills Road and Clairmont Road. These projects were prioritized in the North Druid Hills Road Corridor Study, which was jointly funded by DeKalb County and ARC.
Planned upgrades include enhancements designed to reduce congestion and queuing, improve traffic operations, and minimize both the frequency and severity of crashes.
The funding comes from the federal Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG) through ARC’s 2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) solicitation. DeKalb County’s projects were selected from a competitive pool of more than 100 proposals across the region.
“We are honored to receive the ARC 2024 TIP Solicitation Project Award,” said Cochran-Johnson. “These much-needed funds will help advance critical transportation improvements in DeKalb County. ARC’s continued support has been instrumental to our success, and we look forward to implementing these impactful projects for the benefit of our residents and the region.”
