GA Rep. Hank Johnson to host 4th Annual “Week of H.O.P.E.,” honoring nonprofits, promoting grants and education

ATLANTA–Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) will spotlight local nonprofits in honor of National Nonprofit Day, during his 4^th Annual “Week of H.O.P.E.”– Helping Other People Elevate initiative—Aug. 11-16. 

During the initiative, nonprofit leaders will have a chance to learn about grant writing and funding, as well as celebrate outstanding nonprofits that are improving lives and helping to build stronger communities in Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District.  Johnson plans to roll up his sleeves and volunteer at a food pantry to highlight those serving on the front lines to address food insecurity in communities. 

Johnson said he hopes to inspire communities by emphasizing that, even in challenging times for the nonprofit sector, there is always hope and opportunity.

“The Trump administration has made its war on nonprofits abundantly clear. In the face of funding cuts and threats of political retribution, Congressman Johnson is pushing back by holding his annual Week of H.O.P.E. Helping Other People Elevate,” the Congressman’s Office said in a statement.  “It’s an entire week of hosting grants workshops, volunteering in the community and celebrating nonprofits. “

More details of the six-day H.O.P.E. initiative are outlined below: 

• Grants Workshop Series (Aug. 11-14): Free, virtual workshops for nonprofit leaders and local officials to strengthen grant writing, explore alternative funding, and learn about Community Project Funding | To register: https://hankjohnson.house.gov/25grantseries 
• A Day in My Shoes (Aug. 15): Rep. Johnson and his staff will volunteer at a local food pantry to spotlight community service in the district and highlight the importance of food security.
• 4th Annual H.O.P.E. Awards Ceremony (Aug. 16): A special in-person celebration recognizing outstanding nonprofits making a difference across the 4th District.
