Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner announces early closure on Dec. 5, new tag office hours beginning Jan. 1, 2026

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner’s Office announces that all tag offices and the call center will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 5, to allow for critical system updates. Normal operations will resume on Monday, Dec. 8. Residents are encouraged to plan and take advantage of the county’s self-service kiosks and online services during the temporary closure.

Tax Commissioner Denise R. Mitchell also announced an upcoming change in operating hours for all tag offices. Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, tag office hours will shift to 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The call center hours will remain unchanged. This adjustment supports operational continuity and fiscal responsibility while ensuring residents receive efficient, high-quality service.

Mitchell emphasized the growing number of convenient alternatives available to residents, noting Gwinnett County’s 16 self-service kiosks, including three 24-hour locations.

“These kiosks reflect our ongoing commitment to making it easier for residents to do business with the Tax Commissioner’s Office,” Mitchell said. “If avoiding office lines is a priority, especially for tag renewals or ID transactions, we strongly encourage residents to use our self-service options.”

Available service options include self-service kiosks (16 countywide, including 3 open 24 hours), online services through the Tax Commissioner’s website, mail-in and drop-box options for select transactions and in-person services during the updated business hours beginning Jan.1, 2026.
