ATLANTA — City officials announced that Atlanta will host the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® (AKA) 73rd International Convention in 2028.
Atlanta City Council President Marci Collier Overstreet was joined at the July 22 announcement by fellow AKA member, District 10 City Councilmember Andrea L. Boone, both of whom were named Honorary Chairs of the 73rd International Convention. The prestigious gathering is expected to draw thousands of AKA members from across the United States and abroad.
The International Convention is the sorority’s premier international business meeting, where members convene to conduct organizational business, strengthen leadership, celebrate achievements, and advance initiatives that create lasting impact in communities globally.
This will be the fourth time Atlanta has hosted the event, most recently in 2016.
“With immense excitement, I am proud to announce that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will bring together its members for the 73rd Boule in 2028 in Atlanta to celebrate a powerful legacy of service to all mankind. We know there’s no better stage than Atlanta, a destination as vibrant and dynamic as the organization. As thousands gather for the 73rd Boule in 2028, this event will benefit local hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, and other businesses, while also enhancing Atlanta’s visibility as a host for major gatherings,” said Overstreet.
“Atlanta has long been a city at the forefront of progress, shaped by leaders who understood the power of service and collective action. That same spirit lives on through Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Incorporated, whose commitment to community continues to inspire. Hosting the 73rd Boule is a powerful moment for Atlanta, and I am proud to help welcome this historic gathering to a city rooted in tradition and driven by purpose,” said Boone.

We are looking forward to supporting an event that reflects the excellence and the tremendous impact of this organization,” said Santana Kempson Wright, Atlanta City Council Chief of Staff and International Convention Host Committee Member.
