Jackson was reportedly bodyslammed by Officer C.J. Swanger on May 29, 2020 outside of Lenox Mall. The incident happened on the first day of the Atlanta uprisings, which were sparked over the death of George Floyd.
Police said Jackson moved a barricade and they thought she was looting. Jackson and her boyfriend, however, were not looting They were trying to leave the area, said Attorney Mawuli Davis, who is representing Jackson, along with Attorney Harold Spence of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm.
An eyewitness video-recorded the officer ordering Jackson to get out of the car she and her boyfriend were riding in. When Jackson refused, the officer is seen forcing her out of the car and slamming her to the ground.
“As we stated when we filed the lawsuit in the death of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner earlier this month, June will be a month of reckoning for the city of Atlanta. The brutal actions of this officer severely injured Ms. Jackson, ” said Attorney Davis.
