Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Amazon plans to create more than 500 full-time jobs in the Braselton area. The 600,000-square-foot Amazon fulfillment center in Jackson County will be used for packing and shipping large items such as household décor, sporting equipment and gardening tools. Best Buy in Conyers was burglarized at 3:50 a.m. on Friday, June 17.  Two suspects broke through a receiving garage door and stole drones and gaming consoles.  The same location was burglarized on May 9, 2016 in a similar manner.  See video of both incidents. Rockdale County leaders and community partners recently celebrated the completion of the second phase of Phoenix Pass, a nonprofit that provides transitional housing and training to help homeless women and their children become self-sufficient. The year-long construction of the $600,000, 7,200-square-foot apartment complex was a collaboration between Home Aid Atlanta, which worked with several building trades that donated their services, Cooper Homes of Atlanta, and the community. James Lewis, who heads the N the Zone Motorcycle Club, was on his way to the Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia to help raise money for a young girl recovering from a heart transplant when he was struck and critically injured himself.
