During the visit, Morris offered encouragement and gift bags to cancer patients at the center in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. LAWRENCEVILLE, GA—Starting in November, Gwinnett County will open warming stations on nights when temperatures drop to 35 degrees or below. These stations provide temporary, overnight relief for residents exposed to long-term frigid temperatures. DECATUR, GA— The DeKalb County Police Department is hosting its 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31. This free event will be held 6 to 8 p.m., in the Kroger parking lot, 2385 Wesley Chapel Road, Decatur. During the event, there will be music, games, free bags, and candy being handed out by our DeKalb County Police officers. “We want to create a safe environment for our citizens to participate in the Halloween tradition of trick or treating and are encouraging all residents to stop by for some safe family fun,” said Police Chief Mirtha V. ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) has made contact with Chloe Leigh Cooper. RCSO with the assistance of other local law enforcement agencies has determined that the 20-year-old is safe and left home of her own free will. The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office had issued a missing person alert after Cooper’s family reported her missing when she did not return home on the evening of Oct. 21. Her family said that Cooper was last seen getting into a white 4-door vehicle on that morning. ROCKDALE COUNTY – The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a third-party hotline today (Oct. 28) about a possible threat at a local Rockdale high school. After a thorough investigation, it was determined to be a hoax. Several schools across the United States have received the same or similar threat. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) was contacted and provided support. The GBI will forward notification to the FBI for further review. The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is committed to treating all school threats with the utmost seriousness.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA—On Saturday, Oct. 26, a crowd gathered to dedicate a community park in South DeKalb County, GA in honor of longtime civil rights activist John Evans, who in 1983 became the first black to serve on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. Cheers and applause erupted as the former 36-acre DeKalb County Shoal Creek Park III was renamed the John Evans Legacy Park.
