CONYERS, GA— A crowd of families turned out this past weekend for the Rockdale County Public Schools “Parent Academy Be More in 2024!” on Saturday, Feb. 24.  The free event featured classes and workshops for parents and students, student performances, and door prizes. Families were also treated to free box lunches and childcare was provided to those who needed it for younger children attending. The half-day event was held at Salem Middle School. GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– The Gwinnett County Police Department is urging the public to utilize dedicated parking spaces at each precinct and its headquarters for E-Commerce transactions. E-Commerce Exchange parking signs have been erected for the public’s use. The Police Department’s announcement comes after the arrest of a 20-year-old Snellville man who robbed a woman at her home during a transaction that began from an online marketplace advertisement. DECATUR, GA– The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs has opened registration for youth track and field. The registration fee is $40 per participant. Participants must be between the ages of 5 to 14 and a birth certificate is required to register. Registration includes four track meets. Practice dates and times will be determined by recreation centers. Registration is open through March 9. As part of President Biden’s historic American Climate Corps initiative, the Working Lands Climate Corps will provide technical training and career pathway opportunities for young people, helping them deliver economic benefits through climate-smart agriculture solutions for farmers and ranchers across the country, now and in the future. DECATUR, GA– DeKalb Industrial Way, near the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway, will be closed Feb. 15, from 7 p.m. until Feb. 27, 7 a.m. as part of the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase II. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day. Both Southwest facing turning lanes at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and DeKalb Industrial Way will be closed.
