Kemp, in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), announced today (tSept. 12) hat calendar year 2022 was record-breaking for the state’s tourism industry, welcoming the largest number of visitors the state has ever seen. While attending the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference on Jekyll Island, Kemp shared that 167.7 million domestic and international visitors in 2022 brought in $39.8 billion in spending, surpassing the previous record set in 2019 by $2 billion. GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– Gwinnett officials on Sunday dedicated the Graves Park dog park to fallen SWAT K9 Blue. K9 Blue was Gwinnett Police’s first canine assigned full-time to the SWAT Unit. He was shot and killed on Sept. 10, 2020, while tracking suspects who fled a stolen vehicle in Norcross. Upon locating one suspect in the woods, K9 Blue was fatally wounded as officers issued commands and the suspect opened fire. Along with tracking wanted individuals, K9 Blue served high-risk warrants, assisted with apprehending barricaded suspects, conducted building searches and found evidence and lost property. On list of approximately 150 players from Georgia compiled by Georgia High School Football Daily only Gwinnett County Public Schools had more with 23.
