DECATUR, GA – The DeKalb County Board of Health received notification on Sept. 13, confirming its first human case of West Nile virus infection in the county for the year. The patient, a male in his twenties, resides in the southwest area of Atlanta, within DeKalb County. Additionally, the Board of Health officials are also investigating two additional, yet unrelated West Nile cases in the Lake Claire and the North Druid Hills areas of the county. GWINNETT COUNTY, GA— Detectives have arrested five adults and one juvenile in connection with the death of a female they believe was subjected to beatings and malnourishment for weeks. STONECREST, GA – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced an additional $81,000 grant for Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC). DEKALB COUNTY—-An Atlanta man has been sentenced to life plus 15 years for his role in the fatal shooting of a driver who then crashed into an elderly woman’s apartment, injuring her. ATLANTA—Eugene Jones, director of the Atlanta Housing Authority, tendered his resignation on Tuesday, Sept. 12, marking the end of his nearly four-year tenure overseeing housing initiatives in the city of Atlanta. Shortly before 1 p.m., officers assigned to the Central Precinct were dispatched to a “Person Shot” call in the parking lot of 2131 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.
