CONYERS, GA—Military veterans in the Rockdale County area are encouraged to attend a Veterans Town Hall meeting on Friday, March 3, 6 p.m., at the J.P. Carr Community Center, 981 Taylor Street, Conyers. Rockdale County has about 6,500 veterans, according to officials, and agencies that can provide veterans help are hosting the town hall as a community outreach effort. Representatives from various agencies will be on hand including: the Georgia Department of Veteran Services, Georgia Department of Driver Services, a liaison to Social Security and Medicare services, and several other agencies. ATLANTA–The Internal Revenue Service has announced special Saturday hours on Feb. 11, March 11, April 8, and May 13 at the Atlanta Taxpayer Assistance Center located at 401 W. Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308. The special hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and no appointment is needed. Longtime DeKalb County resident and businessman Bill Leavell announces the death of his mother, Mrs. Louise Leavell, who passed away at the age of 90. For 25 years, Mrs. Leavell made her career driving Coweta County school buses. She was heralded as the first female school bus driver for Coweta and consequently, its first black female driver.
