The DeKalb County Sanitation Division is currently experiencing yard trimmings collection delays for some residents in Atlanta, Brookhaven, Doraville, Dunwoody, and Tucker. On Saturday, June 5, residential collection teams will service households affected by this week’s collection delays. Residents are encouraged to keep their yard trimmings at the curb until servicing occurs. The Sanitation Division Said in a news release that it apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience as residential collection teams work toward a resolution. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, with the Gwinnett County Police Department, has arrested a suspect in the murder of a woman last month in a Tucker, Georgia motel. Sheriff’s investigators today(June 2) located and arrested Gamontevis Leonard, 34, of Atlanta for the Malice Murder of Shamere Moore, 35. According to the arrest warrant, the incident occurred on May 22 at the Studio 6 motel, 1795 Crescent Centre Boulevard, Tucker. Beginning July 1, 17-year-olds will be required to successfully complete the Joshua’s Law component of Georgia’s driver training program. Currently, those teens waiting until age 17 to test for their first license, are exempt from the 30 hours of classroom/online instruction and 6 hours of on-the-road training that comprise Joshua’s Law. House Bill 466, passed during the most recent legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly, makes Joshua’s Law driver training mandatory for 17-year-olds. STONECREST—SeaQuest, an educational land and sea attraction, today(June 2) announced that its newest location is expected to soon open at the Mall at Stonecrest, even posting ticket sales on social media and its web site. City officials said this evening, however, the city is still awaiting closing documents to finalize the $2.4 million purchase. “Right now, the city still owns the Sears building. Gwinnett County is helping ease hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic by continuing to feed Gwinnett’s children during the summer. After Gwinnett County Public Schools wraps up its meal service, the Gwinnett Summer Meals program will provide free grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for children 18 years of age and younger at County parks, libraries, and other locations beginning June 1.
