ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) is holding the second of two Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding events in 2021 for Rockdale residents and business owners. The E-Recycling and Paper Shredding Event will be held Saturday, Sept.18, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the parking lot of 1400 Parker Road, Conyers. The free, half-day event will provide the public a place to safely discard and recycle old documents and electronics, regardless of working condition. DECATUR, GA—DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has appropriated $575,000 to assist nine nonprofit, community agencies in helping DeKalb residents with housing and food insecurities, and other essential needs due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. DECATUR, GA—Truman Smith, 32, was sentenced to life in prison on Aug. 20 for fatally shooting a friend, Johnnie Crawford, 50 , at point blank range DeKalb District Attorney Sherry Boston announced the conviction by jury trial in the murder case against Smith, who was from Zebulon, Georgia. Jurors returned guilty verdicts against Smith on charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony in connection with the shooting death of Crawford. CONYERS, GA – Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) was recently awarded around $5 million over four years in the third round of the Georgia Department of Education’s Literacy for Learning, Living, and Leading in Georgia (L4GA) grant. The goal of L4GA is to improve literacy outcomes for students from birth through grade 12.
