Hairston Crossing to host “Tau Pi Omega: 25 years of service” exhibit The Tau Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrates 25 years of service in the Stone Mountain and Lithonia communities. A special exhibit will showcase some of its many accomplishments and contributions, including decades of cleaning trash from Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road, distributing free car safety seats for children to parents who needed them and awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students. Morgan The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon announced the arrest of Wendall Heath Tolbert, 51, of Coweta County in connection with the theft and vandalism of the Walk of Heroes Veterans Memorial at Black Shoals Park. Tolbert was charged with felony theft and interference with government property, also a felony. Authorities said Tolbert is part of a team who stole two heavy, bronze statues and military emblems from the park, which is located at 3001 Black Shoals Road N.E.
