A bouquet of pink balloons rose to the sky on Saturday as supporters and loved ones gathered at the Zaxby’s restaurant, 451 S. Deshon Road in Stone Mountain, to remember 17-year-old Elyse Purefoy.
The Arabia Mountain High School student, who was on the honor roll and a member of the DeKalb County school’s dance team, worked part time at the restaurant where co-workers and managers held the vigil on Saturday evening.
Purefoy collapsed during a workout with dance team members on June 10 and was pronounced dead after she was taken to a local hospital. Her cause of death has not been determined.
Viewing will be held today, June 16, for Elyse Imani Purefoy, noon to 5 p.m., at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes South DeKalb Chapel, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur. The celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 17, with a viewing starting at 11 a.m. and the service at noon at Saint Philip AME Church, 240 Candler Road, Atlanta.
Family, friends and loved ones may share their memories on the family’s Life Tributes page at levettfuneralhome.come.
