STONECREST, GA– The city of Stonecrest has launched a new marketing campaign celebrating the people, progress, and spirit of DeKalb County’s most populated city, home to an estimated 60,000 residents, officials announced on Tuesday, March 31.
The “Stonecrest PROUD!” campaign features a new 2:59-minute city rap song that hypes up Stonecrest’s assets—including the Browns Mill Aquatic Center, Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, the Mall at Stonecrest and the mega New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
City officials say the four-month civic pride initiative, which run April-August, will be driven by a series of social media videos spotlighting Stonecrest residents, businesses, city employees and community leaders. They include DeKalb County CEO and Stonecrest resident Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, New Birth Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant, and area businesses Walmart and Buttermilk Biscuit, among others.
The campaign includes Stonecrest PROUD! billboards, yard signs, and resource materials designed to help broaden awareness of city/county services and strengthen community engagement, officials said.
“This campaign is about connecting stronger with our residents, schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, civic leaders, and partners much more intentionally,” said Stonecrest Mayor Jazzmin Cobble. “We want Stonecrest PROUD! to reflect the heart of our people and our collective vision for a world-class city that inspires others to visit, purchase a home, or start a business here.”
To kick things off, Stonecrest and DeKalb residents are invited to a free pep rally and resource fair on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at City Hall, 3120 Stonecrest Blvd.
The community is invited to enjoy live DJ music, complimentary food and refreshments, resource vendors, bounce houses for the kids, bingo games for seniors, giveaways, and more. Atlanta Falcons mascot Freddie Falcon will be on hand for photo opportunities.
Mayor Cobble, City Council, and department heads will meet and greet attendees. Job seekers can drop off copies of their professional resume and speak directly with Stonecrest Human Resources to learn about current and upcoming job opportunities (there will not be on-site interviews). In addition, DeKalb Public Health will provide free health screenings.
