ATLANTA—Congressman Hank Johnson, who represents Georgia’s Fourth District, announced that a website has been created with information for constituents on inauguration history and periodic updates about planned ceremonies that will take place in January 2025.
Since 1901, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) has been responsible for planning and executing the Inaugural Ceremonies of the President-elect and Vice President-elect at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
You can see the footage of the swearing-in ceremony of President William McKinley in 1901, the first inaugural ceremony planned by the JCCIC, and find out updates on inaugural activities at inaugural.senate.gov.
“As a reminder, the Presidential Inaugural Committee organizes the parade and groups from our state interested in participating can find information and apply at inauguralparade.smapply.net/,” Johnson stated in the Oct. 22 edition of the online The Hank Herald newsletter.
The Joint Task Force-National Capital Region 60th Presidential Inaugural Parade will be held Jan. 20, 2025 in Washington, D.C. The JTF-NCR Parade Coordinator Office began accepting applications for groups to participate on Aug. 23, 2024. The deadline for applications ends on Dec. 4, 2024.
