Congressman Hank Johnson announces Georgia’s Fourth District winners of 2024 Congressional App Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today the winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District.

This annual district competition invites students to create and submit their original apps, showcasing their talent in coding, STEM, and computer science. More than 40 students competed from four high schools from throughout Georgia’s Fourth. The first-place winners will travel to Washington, D.C. in April 2025 to accept their award with other winners from around the nation.

The winners are as follows:

First Place:

“Every year, I am continually impressed by the ingenuity and creativity demonstrated by the students in our district through the Congressional App Challenge,” said Congressman Johnson. “I’m proud of all the students who participated, and I am excited to celebrate these students’ hard work and look forward to seeing their future achievements.”

The Congressional App Challenge was created to encourage students to explore STEM, coding, and computer science through hands-on learning. The challenge is designed to inspire, include, and innovate by actively engaging students from underrepresented communities in technology and providing them the platform to connect directly with policymakers. Each year, winners from across the nation have the opportunity to have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year.

The Congressional App Challenge was first launched in 2014 and has since reached over 40,000 students across all 50 states, with students submitting apps in a wide range of categories – from civic engagement to health and education. Congressman Johnson is proud to be part of this national effort to foster the next generation of tech leaders.
