CONYERS, GA–On Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, Rockdale County Public Schools informed the Conyers Police Department about a social media post circulating locally regarding a possible mass shooting at Rockdale County High School.
Conyers Police Department began an investigation by deploying school resource officers, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the K9 Unit.
“Working with Rockdale County Public Schools, we found that the post originated from a threat against a school in Wisconsin, and the person responsible was arrested in Tucson, Arizona. Based on this information, we concluded the threat to Rockdale County High School lacked credibility and seemed to be a hoax,” said Capt. Q. Garcia, Public Information Officer for the Conyers Police Department.
“We are deeply grateful for the rapid response from internal staff and external partners such as the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Rockdale County public.
“Our investigation is ongoing as we search for the individual responsible for spreading false information that has disrupted our school environment and community.
Disseminating false information about threats to the school can result in serious consequences, including felony criminal charges. Therefore, we strongly discourage such behavior.”
Anyone who has information that could help identify the individual responsible for spreading the information is urged to contact the Conyers Police Department’s Criminal
Investigations Division at 770-929-4203.
