DeKalb County, GA—Transforming Faith Church is doing church very differently this Sunday, Oct. 29. Instead of the traditional worship service inside the church facility, members and friends will Worship Through Service at 9 a.m.
“Most people would simply call this a community service project; however, we are called to do more than just check the box for a few hours of credit. We are called to show our love for God by how we show our love for our brothers and sisters in very tangible ways,” said Pastor Lee May.
Transforming Faith Church has built service to community into its annual rhythm of worship. Every 5th Sunday of the year, the church cancels its normal worship experience to serve the community in various practical ways. This month’s Worship Through Service experience will include a community clean-up that will take place along the Panola Road corridor between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Fairington Parkway in the city of Stonecrest.
Stonecrest City Council Woman Alecia Washington, a member of Transforming Faith Church, had this to say about the Worship Through Service experience:
“This day of service is a tangible way to show people how to truly love. Love is more than just words, it’s about actions. We love God and neighbor through both words and deeds.”
