DEKALB COUNTY, GA— The DeKalb County Police Department continues its enforcement efforts targeting illegal street takeovers, resulting in five arrests early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to reports of a street takeover around 1:30 a.m. on May 3 in the 2600 block of Bouldercrest Road. As officers arrived, participants attempted to flee the scene. One vehicle struck a police vehicle while attempting to leave. That vehicle was subsequently stopped by officers at a nearby gas station.
Five occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the DeKalb County Jail on the following charges:
- Isaac Ayes, 18: Fleeing and Eluding, Hit and Run, Improper Lane Change, Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, Participating in a Street Takeover
- Joana Martinez, 18: Participating in a Street Takeover
- Camilla Marquez, 18: Participating in a Street Takeover
- Jhonatan Vega, 20: Participating in a Street Takeover
- Antonio Brazil, 17: Participating in a Street Takeover
The DeKalb County Police Department will continue to take enforcement action against illegal street takeovers. These activities are dangerous, unlawful, and place both participants and the public at risk.
