DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Management Office offers free flood map information to residents

DEKALB COUNTY, GA–The Dekalb County Roads and Drainage Floodplain Management Office offers general floodplain management information on flood hazard risks, planning, prevention, and mitigation free of charge to residents. 

The service provides useful information on the following:

1. Flood zone determination and flood risk assessment.
2. Access to, and information on historical and effective Flood Insurance Rate Map and the Flood Insurance Study.
3. Information on Special Flood Hazard Areas and other high-hazard flood areas, such as floodways and high-velocity zones.
4. Flood depths around structures and adjacent land areas.
5. Historical flood information about past flooding at or near any area.
6. Current and old copies of Construction Certificates (elevation certificates, floodproofing certificates etc.) on file.

7. Information on flood-proofing techniques for Buildings and other structures.
8. Publications on flood hazards and damage reduction techniques.
9. On-site visits by an Engineer experienced in floodplain management.
10. Information about protections for Floodplains.
11. Other flood problems that cannot be provided on the Flood Insurance Rate Map.
