DeKalb County sheriff’s deputies arrest 6, seize estimated $2.8M in suspected marijuana, $40K cash after traffic stop

DEKALB COUNTY, GA—A traffic stop by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of six people and the seizure of an estimated $2.8 million in suspected marijuana, $40,000 in cash and other drugs , authorities said today, Aug.13. 

DeKalb County deputies conducted the traffic stop on a van on Aug. 4. Investigators seized $40,000 in cash and  approximately 220 to 250 pounds of suspected marijuana. Further investigations led to a storage facility in DeKalb County, where deputies executed a search warrant and recovered an additional estimated 1,200 boxes of synthetic THC, mushroom (Psilocybin) and suspected marijuana products.

Six individuals were arrested in connection with the drug bust. Safin T. Rajwani, Aadil Samnani, Nooruddin T. Rajwani and Salim Vadsaria, were all charged with V.G.C.S.A. Trafficking Marijuana; Raheen S. Dadani, was charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Marijuana/More Than an Ounce; and Piyush Vadasariya, was charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Schedule 1 Controlled Substance.

All of the suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and did not release any additional information.

“The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the collaboration of our statewide law enforcement partners, which assisted in our apprehension of these suspects,” DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said. “We cannot over emphasize the importance of interagency cooperation in disrupting the trafficking of illegal narcotics into our communities.”
